  3. Make sure there is nothing on the scanner bed, and that the lid is on the scanner and is closed.

  5. If you are using an automatic document feeder, you may want to replace it with the original scanner lid. Otherwise, make sure it is properly connected.

  7. If you are using a transparency adapter, you may want to replace it with the original scanner lid. Otherwise, make sure it is properly connected and powered on.
